Learn to develop self-awareness, pause, and catch yourself when faced with high-stress or high-emotion situations, so that you can respond or act in a manner that is conscious and aligns with your values.

There will be a total of four Zoom sessions. In each of the first three sessions, we will delve into a different aspect of the Nervous System Reset. The fourth and final session will be used to wrap up and incorporate everything.

On each of the 21 days of this challenge, I will present you with a small task to work on. These tasks are designed to be simple and easy to implement.

You may be wondering, “What is the importance of a Nervous System Reset?”

There are moments in a day, or spanning a period of your child’s development, when you feel swept up in the current, unable to change course or climb out of the river. Each family encounters their own set of complex problems and situations that may undermine your confidence and overwhelm you. You can teach yourself to slow down, develop self-awareness, and control how you respond, thus changing your parenting experience.

There is a mental place that exists within you where you can slow things down and feel as if you’ve gained more time, space, and pleasure in what you are doing. It is easier to find this place while doing the things you might naturally associate with decompressing or rejuvenating. For myself, I notice it with activities such as going camping, taking a walk in the forest, or immersing myself in an artistic activity.

It is harder to find this mental place in more stressful or mundane situations, but you can teach yourself and cultivate the ability to actively pause, allowing you to slow things down, make space, and calm your nervous system. Additionally, conditioning self-awareness and self-control will allow you to step into that space you have created and respond or react in ways that are conscious and align with your wants, needs and values.
